The Rest of the Story

First Grandchild 1994

It was Sunday morning, March 6, 1994, when Kirk called to tell us they were at the hospital. It was the day that Eva was anxiously waiting for, the day our first grandchild would be born. We quickly packed everything in the car and headed to Victoria. We got to the hospital not long after the baby was born, a healthy baby boy. Tammy and Kirk had chosen the name Kyle Hunter, and Kirk had his future hunting and fishing partner.

Maurice and Charlotte (brother and sister-in-law) were working in Corpus Christie at that time, and they drove up to Victoria to see the new grandchild and spend part of the day with us. The personal baby blanket was something Tammy had started doing as a teenager for her cousins and friends when they had babies. She had taught her mom how to make them, so Eva made this one for Kyle and several more over the years. That was special because the teaching roles were different for the first time.

For almost three years, Kyle was our only grandchild and got plenty of attention.
