“Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.” – Martin Luther King Jr.
It was a Sunday in 1977, sometime after we moved to Jersey Village, I sat in the pew with Eva and our two daughters when the Pastor told a story that got my attention. It was the story of the frog and boiling water. “If you drop a frog into a pot of boiling water, it will immediately jump out; however, if you put the frog in a pot of water that is at room temperature and then gradually raise the temperature, it will not jump out and will be cooked to death.” Whether you believe that would happen is irrelevant. It does describe a fact of human nature that history proves.
Many of us grew up with the concept of “choose your battles”. You can win many small battles and then lose the war. That can lead to a “death by a thousand cuts”. A lot of small bad things are happening, none of which are fatal in themselves, but which add up to a slow and painful end. We accept changes that affect others, but not me at least not today. Then one day we are shocked by what is occurring around our children. All those changes did not happen overnight. There were changes where the majority remained silent.
“I believe with all my heart that standing up for America means standing up for the God who has so blessed our land. We need God’s help to guide our nation through stormy seas. But we can’t expect Him to protect America in a crisis if we just leave Him over on the shelf in our day-to-day living.” – Ronald Reagan
The corruption and violence we see in America and around the world today is the result of the majority not wanting to be called names for standing against evil. God has held His people responsible for what they allowed to happen throughout history when strayed away from Him.
14 “To the angel of the church in Laodicea write:
These are the words of the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the ruler of God’s creation. 15 I know your deeds, that you are neither cold nor hot. I wish you were either one or the other! 16 So, because you are lukewarm—neither hot nor cold—I am about to spit you out of my mouth. 17 You say, ‘I am rich; I have acquired wealth and do not need a thing.’ But you do not realize that you are wretched, pitiful, poor, blind and naked. 18 I counsel you to buy from me gold refined in the fire, so you can become rich; and white clothes to wear, so you can cover your shameful nakedness; and salve to put on your eyes, so you can see.
19 Those whom I love I rebuke and discipline. So be earnest and repent. 20 Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.
21 To the one who is victorious, I will give the right to sit with me on my throne, just as I was victorious and sat down with my Father on his throne. 22 Whoever has ears, let them hear what the Spirit says to the churches.” Revelation 3:14-22
It is past time to drain the swamp in Washington DC and cut the size of the federal bureaucracies. Refocus the purpose for each of the agencies and restrict their powers to those granted by the laws passed by Congress and signed by the President. The recent rulings by the Supreme Court have made it clear that government agencies have taken far more actions than allowed by the laws of this country.
That is exactly the kind of action by the King of England that prompted the Declaration of Independence in 1776. The Department of Justice needs to be cleaned of all the political actors and those that have acted accordingly should be charged for their unlawful actions. The CIA and FBI should be investigated for their unlawful actions including election interference. All military branches need new leaders that focus on the true purpose of their existence.
We need new laws that those serving in Congress understand so they do not become millionaires by ignoring the same laws that are applied to the average citizen. We need term limits for all elected officeholders, and we need Zero Based Budgeting. We need to stop short-term budgets that are used because Congress has not done its main duty. Budgets presented to the House and Senate must be clear and presented with enough time to be thoroughly reviewed before any vote is taken. Any budget containing thousands of pages should be rejected on receipt. Sunset laws need to be implemented to finally kill agencies or programs that no longer serve a purpose. Every new legislation must contain funding documentation that explains how much it will cost and how it will be paid for. The founders of this country never intended to have career politicians like Joe Biden who held federal offices for more than 50 years and became a multi-millionaire in the process.
As Ronald Regan once said, government is not the solution, it is the problem. We need to change our Income Tax laws to a flat tax rate where everyone pays the same rate for all income and that could reduce the need to file a tax return for more than 95% of American workers. Then the IRS could be reduced by at least 80%.
In the business world, bad management will put you into bankruptcy and this country has been bankrupt for many years. The current national debt is $34.9 Trillion and growing every second. That is $267,000 per taxpayer and with millions of illegal aliens coming into America every year, the debt will continue to increase at faster rates. The Federal Government is currently spending $2 Trillion more every year than it has in income coming in. Our trade deficit with China is $280 Billion a year even with the tariffs put in place by President Trump that President Biden wants to get rid of to help China. The total US Unfunded Liabilities is currently at $17 Quadrillion (one quadrillion equals 1,000 trillion). That is the amount that is owed with no actual method to pay it when due. The states are under stress and crime is rising so fast that they just change what they count as illegal acts. Our justice system enforces laws based on group identities much worse than in the 1960s.
The education system is so damaged that many of the Universities need to be closed because they have done more harm than good for the country and those they were charged to educate. Sometimes I wonder what the world was like when God chose Noah to start over with when He brought the flood.
We are at a turning point in America. Like the forefathers of this nation, we must fight to stop the destruction of America. We must hold those in powerful positions accountable for their actions. The most powerful weapon individuals have is their vote. What is allowed to be done in this country depends on how you vote. You may not be willing to let others know your true feelings on issues; however, how you vote is important.
