Follow the Science

We are all familiar with the phrase “follow the science” because we have heard it for more than two years. Another phrase that has been repeated is “settled science” with the meaning applied as “cannot question the accuracy of what “science” is mandating now. A major change from what most of us had understood from our earliest years of learning. Nowhere was the change more glaring than at universities and the medical field.

When I worked at NASA back in the 1964-66 timeframe, changes were measured in days or weeks. With each “simulation” of a mission, changes were made to include the latest information. Each mission provided enough added information that would affect plans for space missions, years into the future. As expectations became facts, either correct or incorrect, our basis for what was true had to change. The same thing was occurring in every industry, at a slower rate.

The two government departments that have put forth this concept of “follow the science” and “settled science” have been the CDC and NIH National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases. Dr. Fauci, 82, began his career at NIH in 1968. During 1970-71, he was a resident at the New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center. That was the last time Fauci attended to a patient. While at NIH, he was involved in or responsible for research to find cures for many diseases. His BIO brags about his impressive 54 years of achievements. However, the details show how much taxpayer funds have been under his control and no real cures for any of the diseases he has been involved with. As a government employee, he has become a multi-millionaire, and his most recent salary is the highest-paid government employee, even greater than the President.

Currently, the Minimum Drinking Age in America is twenty-one and the CDC says drinking by those under the age of twenty-one is a public health problem. It lists many reasons that someone under twenty-one should not be allowed to drink with one of those reasons being: changes in brain development. The CDC also required children as young as preschool age to be vaccinated against Covid that posed no risk to their health. The CDC has supported treatments for gender changes as early as elementary. The CDC has supported limiting the purchase of firearms to anyone under twenty-one and yet supports providing medical advice and drugs to children under the age of eighteen without parental notification.

The “settled science” of today requires you to eliminate any common sense and to forget everything you have learned before. “Settled Science,” tells you that a woman cannot be defined, and that gender cannot be determined; however, a child at age 10 can have sex-changing procedures without parental approval.

Here is what I found when searching for a definition of “settled science” – No science is ever “settled”; science deals in probabilities, not certainties. When the probability of something approaches 100%, then we can regard the science, colloquially, as “settled”. The skeptics say that results must be double-checked and uncertainties must be narrowed before any action should be taken.

In 1965, Paul Harvey in one of his messages for the day was titled “If I Were the Devil.” So, 57 years ago, he gave us a description of changes the Devil would make.
