Chapters 1-8 in the book of Zechariah were written between 520 and 518 B.C. with chapters 9-14 years later, between 480 and 470 B.C. in Jerusalem. While there are many lessons to be learned from this book, the focus of this message is narrow. Zechariah, a prophet, speaks about the Messiah and obedience to God and His Word.
In chapter 11:12-13, Zechariah he writes about being paid thirty pieces of silver and that he threw them into the house of the Lord to the potter. This was more than 500 years before the Messiah, Jesus Christ was betrayed by Judas for thirty pieces of silver. His declaration was correct. Jesus predicts He will be betrayed by multiple people before His death, as recorded in multiple books in the New Testament.
The books of the Old Testament contain many passages about the Messiah—all prophecies Jesus Christ fulfilled. Some of those are recorded in books written 1,000 years before. Some scholars say there are as many as 300 Old Testament Scriptures that were completed in the life of Jesus Christ.
The odds of Jesus Christ not being the Messiah written about in the Old Testament would be impossible to calculate for one person to fulfill within about 33 years. Historical documents other than the Holy Bible provide evidence of so much of what is recorded in the Bible to be accurate.
When people say, “I want proof that Jesus Christ even existed or prove that he died and came back to life.”, they are not wanting a real discussion. They are just stating that they do not want to think about any value system except the one they have created for themselves. However, they believe that everything just started from nothing and just expanded from there. They believe that to be science with no proof, only theories.
