Does it matter what you believe if you are sincere, especially if you hear it at a reliable place? If you were taught at church by someone you like and trust, how do you know if it is true? How do you react if someone you just met tells you something that contradicts what you always believed? Will you be held accountable for the things you believe to be true if they are not true? Can you be held accountable by a god you do not believe exists? If you believe in God but believe in a more current view of what is acceptable to God, how can you be judged by a different set of rules you did not understand applied today?
We often hear the phrase “my truth or your truth” from people in important positions of “authority” or they may just present statements as factual and imply that it is from the Bible or the current belief of a faith. In the legal world, you get stopped if you drive 79 miles per hour in a 70 zone. If you tell the officer that you were told you would not get a ticket if you did not exceed 10 mph, the officer will explain you must obey the posted limits regardless of what you were told. To understand how important “truth” is to God, check the Bible to find how many times “false prophets or false teaching” is discussed in both Old and New Testaments. You will begin to understand that God holds those who share false doctrines to a high punishment, but He also explains that all those who accept false information as “truth” are held accountable.
In a court of law, the judge will explain that “ignorance of the law is no excuse” for violating the law. Likewise, the Bible says in Romans 1:18-20 that God has shown through His creation, that “Truth” is clear to all, and we are without excuse for not knowing. Believing in anything that is not in agreement with the Bible regardless of the source does not give you a pass at judgment. If you pass those “untruths” on to others, you will be judged as a False Teacher.
Every issue is discussed in multiple places in the Bible and with consistency; therefore, be careful to not create a new message by taking something out of context. Read the verses before and after to ensure you understand the full message and check other places in the Bible for continuity of the message.

Doom of False Teachers

Depravity of False Teachers

Deceptions of False Teachers
