The Rest of the Story

Hit Tunes From ’60s

I remember a time—it seems like another lifetime but is as clear as if it were yesterday—when you could dance with your date and sing along with the words. The music may be slow or even faster, but you could dance with the rhythm, and your mate would match your steps as one. With the slow songs, she would put her head on your shoulder, and you would wish the song would never end. On the faster songs, as you try new steps, a big grin would appear on her face if she was able to anticipate your next move.

I found dancing to be a great “ice breaker” that made it easier to share “small talk” and get to know each other without being awkward. It was a simpler time, a time when boys and girls had problems, but deciding their gender was not one of them. Being a teenager was like riding an emotional rollercoaster that was so important to becoming an adult. Every pimple and blemish was a part of that moment, but all those things that made up your character and formed your heart were the attraction.

Here are a few songs from the ’60s that might bring back some memories:

The Four Seasons – Sherry

Brenda Lee – I’m Sorry

The Marcels – Blue Moon

Neil Sedaka – Breaking Up Is Hard To Do

Percy Faith – Theme From A Summer Place
