As most people know, it rarely snows in Houston and very rarely in December. That Friday morning started off as a cold and rainy day that would bring a change that none of us expected. The rain began to include sleet and then it got heavier and then turned to snow. On that day, Houston recorded the earliest measurable snow in its history. It snowed for about 8 to 9 hours. It was also the first time that Houston had snow in two consecutive years, following snow on December 10, 2008.
Our granddaughters, Kaylee, Lauren, and Grace had a lot of fun playing in the snow making snowballs and a small snowman while it lasted. Pictures show how green the grass and plants were with flowers blooming. Our lemon tree still had many lemons still on it waiting for someone to pick them and share them with our neighbors.
Events like this happen seldom and often get forgotten unless we stumble across some pictures that remind us. I am thankful that I have captured some of those moments, but I wish I had more of them to share.
