The Rest of the Story

Another First – Christmas

This is my first Christmas without Eva here with me after 58 previous Christmas celebrations together. While it has been different and I continue to have memories of past years when things were good for our family, it has not been as tough as I thought it might be.

I know that Eva is in Heaven, and she no longer has any pain or concerns about anything. I don’t know if those in Heaven even remember their time here on Earth or if they still have feelings for those of us still here, but I know we still continue to love them. Each day I choose to be happy rather than sad.

No one or nothing can replace the love I have for Eva, but God gave us the ability to love many people. My family and friends have been with me through this period and I praise God for bringing them into my life. Christmas is about God’s greatest gift to us by sending His Son Jesus, not only to teach us God’s ways but to then take all of our sins to the cross where He felt the weight of that great pain so that we can have salvation.

I don’t believe we can celebrate Christmas without celebrating Easter or vice versa. Both are tied together and were always the plan. Our gifts to each other are symbols of our love for those we share with; however, the size of the gift does not capture the size of our love.

As you spend time with family and loved ones this Christmas Season, take time to talk about what it means to you that God loves us more than we can express in words. Share your personal story of coming to know Jesus on a personal basis. You might be surprised how God can use that to reach someone you love.

Merry Christmas
