The Rest of the Story

Anchor Babies

In my blog “Birthright Citizenship,” I discussed how foreigners exploit vague legal language to obtain US birth certificates for their newborns. Congress can fix the problems when and if we elect people who love America. I hope that does not mean we must wait until the elected people who hate America die off.

Here is an idea for the first step in correcting the problem that should be a “no-brainer.” Create a clear immigration law addressing a specific issue to avoid ambiguity and misinterpretation. The law will address the concept known as “Chain Migration.” This became a huge problem in 1965. See the link below for more information about “Chain Migration”.

A quick summary would be – other family members living in different countries have a quicker and easier path to come to America due to their relationship with the US Citizens. In 2015, the United States granted 1,051,031 immigrants lawful permanent resident status. That’s nearly enough people to populate a major city the size of Dallas, Texas.

The initial step would be to halt that process, thereby restricting the value of the baby’s birth certificate solely to the child. Parents must decide where the child will be raised, but they cannot live in the US legally or illegally.

The second part is to make it just as clear, anyone who is found to be here in America without a legal status will be deported. This includes over staying visas for students, visitor, work, or any purpose including orders to leave the country by court order. Anyone deported would be forbidden from ever coming into the country for any purpose. Those found here under those conditions would face a minimum of two years in federal prison.

After these changes, immigration laws should be revised, including rules on legal employment and business ownership in America.
