The Rest of the Story

Though None Go with Me

Version 1.0.0

A couple of days ago I watched a movie on Up Faith & Family Steaming, titled “Though None Go With Me”. I did not see anything on Xfinity TV that looked like something I wanted to watch. As I was scanning the options on Up Faith & Family, that title got my attention as part of a Bible verse. For those who prefer short movie reviews, I was moved by the story, and I recommend the movie. While it was filmed in 2006 and first shown on the Hallmark Channel, I do not remember seeing it before.

It is a love story that involves the pain of the loss of loved ones and challenges that involve your faith and commitment. The story follows Elizabeth Leroy from when she was a young woman in 1951. It is a story within a story as she is telling her granddaughter about her life to get her granddaughter to consider her plans with more careful thinking.

As I watched the movie, I thought about why I bother to write things that most people are not interested in. When you reach age 70 and above, you have much to share with the younger generations. Some people are “short-term” planners and others are “long-term” planners when looking at their future. Some will wait until tomorrow to see what it brings and then go from there. I am a person who had some long-range plans while still in high school. My short-term decisions had to fit within the long-range goals.

It did not take long before that fork in the road called a detour. Sometimes things happen and all we can do is ask “WHY?” At that moment, we cannot see anything good or consider that our future could be something just as good or better than we planned. We must lean on our faith and believe that God has a plan. As we get older and can see how He guided us through those painful circumstances, that is how we gain wisdom.

God does not want you to take that wisdom to your grave – He wants and expects you to use it to help others.
