The Rest of the Story

I Am Potential

“God never gives you more than you can handle.” We all have heard that statement and may have repeated it more than once. However, when you are at the point where that is being said, your pain does not go away when you hear it. “Why me?” is the question you keep asking. The answer to that question is not one you will think about by yourself. God knows you more than you know yourself. You only know what you have experienced and how you perceive you did.

Due to the hurricane, my power and cable are out, so last night I watched a movie that I was given for Father’s Day. The movie is titled “I Am Potential” and it is based on the true story of the Hughes family. It is a movie that is recommended for everyone, even children. It should be watched together because there could be questions. I believe it is a “must-watch” movie for teenagers and young adults.

I do not want to tell too much of the story, but the main character of the story is Patrick Henry Hughes who was born with some major disabilities. You see the impact that has on his parents and how each responds to all of the fears and disappointments. Do not quit on the movie and understand it is a story of real life and watch how God did not quit nor did Patrick Henry.

The story follows him through challenges like high school and setbacks, but you see how he faces each of them and never gives up. God is never mentioned in the movie, but you cannot help but see Him working powerfully.
