Parable

What if a movie were written to make you think about your life in a different way than you ever considered? Have you ever thought about why you view life the way you do, and when that began? The movie “Parable” on the Angel streaming network is not a love story or a tearjerker, but a concept that will make you think about your life, regardless of where you are.

The movie begins with six strangers waking up in a strange apartment, and they don’t know how they got there or even where they are. A seventh person is there for a short period of time, who explains that they are all in hospitals near death and are experiencing the meeting as out-of-body therapy. Each of the six has its own sand timer clock. A series of questions begins discussions that lead to honest conversations about things that have been too painful to talk about and have shaped who they have become.

All six of the patients were dealing with depression, but in different ways that led to their current medical condition. The theory is that the open discussions between these six near-death patients can affect whether each person will survive.

Jesus’ parables in the Bible carry important messages that not everyone understands, or not until their hearts are ready to understand. This movie is about these six people getting to the point of understanding where their actions have taken them and now finding a new purpose in life.
