Something happened to me on Saturday evening that I have never experienced before, and I’m unsure what to make of it. I was watching the NASCAR time trials, which is about as boring as watching paint dry, and I dozed off. I could hear them talking, but it was obvious I had fallen asleep. Then I heard Eva saying, “Richard,” and saw her standing in front of me, reaching out with her right hand as if she was trying to wake me.
I woke up immediately and checked to see if I was still alive. I have had dreams before during the night, but never anything like this. I have written a lot in a form like I am speaking to her, and I have thoughts of wishing I had told her something, but I do not spend my days talking to her. I do think I carry her spirit with me, but I do not believe our loved ones are watching us from above or can protect us from evil. I do believe they are happy there at a level we cannot understand.
My faith tells me that we can only communicate with God through Jesus, and our relationship is personal. However, I do not question the possibility of a person in a near-death situation having a vision of a loved one telling them it is not time, or a vision of the Gates of Heaven. There is much more that I do not know than I know.
I believe God is still in the miracle business and that He uses His people here on Earth to do things that we do not always see or understand. God promises us that when we accept Jesus as our Savior and make Him our Lord and Master, the Holy Spirit comes into our hearts to be with us forever. He does not promise that bad things will never happen to us.
Maybe the events following the death of Charlie Kirk, the time I have been praying for several things, and listening to Eva singing, led to the “vision”? The thing is that she had not been able to use her right arm since her fall in 2013, when she crushed her right arm and shoulder. I just do not know what to think about what I experienced.
